Ecuador struggles with COVID-19

Ecuador is on a disastrous trajectory and the projections are horrific as this developing country continues to struggle with COVID-19. One region was so overwhelmed by the exponential increase in deaths that bodies were left on the streets and eventually buried in a mass grave with cardboard coffins.

Five weeks ago, Ecuador’s government issued strict lockdown orders. Like in the states, schools and all non-essential businesses were closed. In addition, all modes of public and private transportation were extremely restricted.

The people of Ecuador are increasingly anxious as they face these health and economic crises. Most of the families are facing difficulty finding basic provisions for their families. In a community plagued with domestic violence, many children are in unsafe situations. Throughout the nation, we have reports of children being abandoned as caregivers are impacted by the virus.

The children and families of our local ministry are being helped as we share emergency rations of food as well as emotional and spiritual support. Hundreds of children’s ministers throughout the country have participated in our online training, learning to help children cope with the fear and grief of the trauma they are living through.

With your help, we can do more. For those able to give financial support, your donation will go a long way toward making a difference in the lives of our children. Some ways in which you may donate include:

Your prayers and support make all the difference. Lives will be transformed because of your generosity.
